SOCIAL STUDIESFor my History project, I did research to study the process of microloans. I did the research on different third world countries and how they can use microloans to help out their communities. I wanted to learn why these people decided why to get microloans? Also, what do they really help with? After doing research I found that there is a large economic impact on most women when they use microloans.

ENGLISHFor English, each night for a week I kept a dream journal. When I woke up in the morning I wrote down the dreams I had. After I logged down those dreams each night, I analyzed them and researched why those dreams could’ve occurred. I did lots of research that helped the process of analyzing.

ARTAfter completing the English portion of my project, I needed the dreams I logged each night for my art. I took all of my dreams I logged down and put them all together as one. The art project I created was me and there was a large thought bubble coming out of my head and in the thought bubble was all of my dreams.

SOCIAL STUDIES
For Social Studies, I created a flowchart to really show the process of what it takes for someone in a third world country to receive a microloan. A microloan comes from a request from a person who needs help with something, they can request to receive one. There are so many different kinds of website you can go to donate to. Once you go to a website, you can pick any different person you feel can really use the money to make a change and impact their community.
The reason I started with poverty and financial help on my flowchart, is because these are the most common reasons people ask for a microloan. Both of those reasons lead to microloans. A microloan can be asked from anyone who is willing to donate. After microloans, it leads to four more options of reconstruction, assisting to families, education, or economy. The reasons these come up next is because after doing research, microloans were asked to help with these problems. Reconstruct is for people who need money to rebuild a home that was destroyed by storms. Starting some kind of business that gets them to profit and get money. Money for food is connected to that because people who get money are going to buy food to feed their family. The next reason is education, people use the money to start their business because they don’t have an education that can get them a job. The economy is the next big reason because the process over time creates a formal economy, also increases the income.
Most microloans are asked from women, 82.6% of people who ask for microloans are women. Most people believe that only men can do the work around the community and women have less of a chance for jobs. Economist argue that a microloan can reduce gender inequality. I believe this could be a true statement if women could use the microloan to do something beneficial it could turn peoples opinion around that they can’t work. This also teaches women to become financially independent and a strong decision-maker in society and in the household.
How I was able to incorporate contextualization for social studies was first, I found a website that people can ask for microloans on. The website Kiva took me straight to a long listing of people asking for microloans. So I took a real example of someone asking for a microloan. Then, took what they were asking for and produced a flowchart of the steps they were going to take. I took a woman named Mwajabu, who I thought was trying to reconstruct and support her family. I received this from her description of why she needed a microloan. She has two young boys and two young girls. She was asking for a microloan to find a way to clear the water. She would get clean water, then receive a profit from the people who would use the water. Not only did she want to start a franchise with money but, make sure her family is safe.

ENGLISH
I used contextualization in my English project was doing research to find different ways people thought they could change their dreams. Many people did sleeping experiments like sleeping in a colder environment, warmer environment, eating different foods before bed, or listening to music while you sleep. I created a sleep schedule and arranged something different each night for a week. Personally, I don’t think these different forms of sleep changed how my dreams where.
ART
My incorporation with contextualization was taking all of my analyzed dreams from English and putting them all into one large art piece. For my art project, I drew myself thinking of all of my dreams in one large thought bubble. I took all of my logged dreams and put them in a different context by putting them into one.
