ANIMAL CRUELTY IN INDIA
Social StudiesFor social studies, I wanted to create a website that shows the cause and effects on animal abuse that takes place in India. I wanted to do lots of research and after I did that, I used that to structure a good website. Some things I really wanted to focus on are laws. Are the laws in India really enforced? How are they different in America? I also wanted to include on my website some ways we can enforce these laws.

EnglishFor English, I wanted to find poems about animal cruelty that other people wrote. After, I planned on annotating those poems. I then created my own poem after about an animal being abused. I also took it from a different way and wrote it from an animal's point of view. For writing the poem I plan on doing research that will help structure my poem with facts on animal abuse. But I found other poems to look at and help structure my poem.

ArtFor Art, I choose to focus on one animal. I choose to do elephants for my artwork because in India the Indian elephant is the most endangered animal in the wild. For art, I did lots of research to find symbols and different colors to include in my piece. I then found the meanings of what those symbols and colors mean in India.

Social Studies
For my social studies project, I wanted to create a website that would inform the reader about animal cruelty in India. Some things that I added to my website were laws in India that are used to help enforce the rules. Then I also added things in the past years that the government in India has taken into their own hands to make a safer environment for the animals. This is also because a lot of them are at a high rate for extinction. I thought it was very important to include the different kinds of animals that are in higher risk of extinction as well, along with the reasons for why they are in extinction.
ENGLISH
For my English project, I started with three poems that I SOAPSToned. After I SOAPToned those poems, I moved onto writing my own poem. My poem is about an animal being abused by its owner. I choose to write my poem from the perspective of an animal. The type of poem I wrote is called a Villanelle poem. I choose to write this type of poem because I have never written something like this before, so It was a bit of a challenge.
ART
For my art project, I wanted to incorporate the importance of every color that represents India. My project was about animal cruelty, one of the most endangered animals in India is the Indian Elephant. So for my art project, I decided to draw an Indian Elephant. I also did research on different colors that have an impact on India and incorporated them into Art. The first color that I included was saffron (which is orange) which symbolizes sacrifice and patriotism. I included this color to show that elephants have to be sacrificed by poachers for their tusks. The bottom green is for life and prosperity. It represents life, peace, happiness, and nature. The reason for the blue is because it is associated with Lord Krishna who was portrayed as having blue skin. It depicts Lord Krishna, the Goddess Radha, and shepherds' wives called Gopis celebrating the festival of Holi. Holi, the Hindu festival in which celebrants splash each other with bright colors. Elephants have played an outsize role in India's history and culture, they once carried soldiers into battle. The elephants are decorated with the same kinds of pigments that are used during Holi. I choose to do an elephant in their normal habitat as the background. I choose to do nothing really special for the background, so the elephant and colors would stand out more.
